The Jabal Hajhar area in northern Socotra is witnessing very heavy rains, as these rains caused torrential rains to flow, separating the capital’s Hadibuh road and isolating it from the eastern regions since five o’clock in the evening.
According to local sources, the amount of torrential rain reached three times its normal rate, compared to Cyclone Tej, which struck the island weeks ago.
According to these sources, the floods caused some initial losses, as a Hilux car was swept away at exactly 10:30 pm today, and the Dahmad Ruti Salba, the Mal base, was damaged, while citizens were stranded in the area.
Many citizens are still stranded in the area, as they are unable to cross to the other side due to the flowing torrents.
The movement of vehicles was suspended after one of them was swept away while trying to cross, and many citizens find themselves stuck waiting for the water level to drop so that they can cross to the opposite side.
