70 illegal African immigrants were arrested in the coast of Shabwa

Security sources announced the seizure of a smuggling boat carrying dozens of illegal African immigrants on the coast of Shabwa Governorate, southeast of Yemen.
The Security Information Center of the Ministry of Interior in the internationally recognized Yemeni government said that the security services in the Shabwa governorate seized a boat carrying 70 illegal immigrants of different African nationalities, while trying to enter the country illegally through the Shathara coast in the governorate.
The security services reported that "the boat, which is called (the legend), was led by three Somalis, and carrying 30 men from the Horn of Africa, and 40 others of Somali and Ethiopian nationalities."
The center emphasized that the local police were coordinated with the Maritime Brigade, the Coast Guard and the International Immigration Organization, to take the necessary measures against illegal immigrants coming to the province.
According to the statistics issued by the International Organization of Immigration (IOM), the number of African immigrants coming to Yemen during the past year reached 60,897 immigrants, while 15,400 others entered the first month of this year 2025.
