The Governor of the Socotra Archipelago, Engineer Raafat Ali Al-Thaqli, met today with the directors of tourism agencies in the governorate.
The meeting, in the presence of the governorate’s undersecretaries, Raed Al-Jaribi and Saleh Ali, and the Director General of Tourism, Mubarak Ali Amer, discussed a number of measures that enhance the governorate’s tourist attraction and contribute to overcoming the difficulties facing the tourism sector.
Governor Al-Thaqli stressed the importance of tourism agencies adhering to the customs and traditions of the local community and alerting their employees to follow the basic regulations, laws and guidelines for tourism to convey a distinctive image of the island and the culture of its people and their original civilisation.
Al-Thaqali stressed the local authority’s keenness and interest in encouraging tourism in the governorate and will work in the near future to take measures that will contribute to achieving a qualitative shift in tourism activity.
For their part, directors of tourism agencies presented a number of proposals that enhance the reality of tourism activity and overcome the negatives that accompanied their tourism work during the past period.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Governor’s Office, Mr. Fahmi Ali.
