Media close to the Houthi group said that the group took control of a cargo ship partly belonging to an Israeli company that was sailing in the waters of the Red Sea, hours after the group threatened any ship belonging to the Israeli occupation.
In addition, the Israeli army denied, on Sunday, that the ship that the Houthis say they are holding near the coast of Yemen is Israeli, and also denied the presence of Israelis on board.
A Sky News Arabia correspondent stated that the detained ship is called “Galaxy Leader,” which specializes in transporting cars and carries the flag of the Bahamas.
It was revealed that the ship belongs to the "Ray Shipping" company, and is owned by the Israeli businessman Rami Unger.
According to the Marine Traffic website, the ship was in the Red Sea on Saturday, heading south, and it is believed that it may have arrived off the right coast.
The Israeli army commented on the incident, as its spokesman, Daniel Hagari, said on his account on the “X” platform: “The hijacking of the cargo ship by the Houthis near Yemen, south of the Red Sea, is a very dangerous event globally.”
