A new political movement in Sayyun led by a former leader in the promise organization

The city of Sayyun in Hadramout Governorate witnessed, on Monday, the publicity of a new political entity under the name “The Movement of Change and Liberation”, in the presence of a number of social figures and political activists, in an event during which the principles and goals of the current were announced, confirming its endeavor to reform the political reality in Yemen and build a modern state based on justice and independence.
The constituent statement announced in the event stated: “In a critical national moment, and between the loss of homelands and the merits of survival, we announce today - with God - the launch of the current of change and liberation, a popular national current came in response to the need of the Yemenis to a sincere voice, and an implemented vision.”
The new political movement presides over the former leader of al -Qaeda, Abu Omar Al -Nahdi, who is known to be one of the most prominent dissidents from the organization in 2018, nicknamed “the Shari’a Rafik in fighting in Iraq” in reference to his relationship with Syrian President Ahmed Al -Shara, who is recently supported by Turkish in the paths of political opposition.
The head of the current emphasized in his speech that the new entity does not seek theoretical or raising slogans, but rather seeks to embody the positions on the ground, stressing that “change is not made by chants, but rather is made by wills and practical steps.”
The “Change and Liberation Movement” adopts three strategic goals:
1. Seeking comprehensive reform, fighting corruption and chaos.
2. Rebuilding state institutions on the basis of justice and efficiency.
3. Protecting rights and freedoms and achieving social and economic justice.
The current also pledged, according to the statement, to adhere to all legitimate means to achieve its aspirations, stressing that the advancement begins to involve people in decisions, choose competencies, activate transparency and enhance the role of the judiciary, media, education and security.
At the conclusion of the event, the President of the current, all Yemenis who want a different future called for engaging in political action, stressing that “previous leaders in armed organizations towards civil and political action, is a more mature step than booby -trapping and destruction paths that have exhausted Yemen for decades.”
The declaration of this current comes amid an overlapping political scene in the country, and escalating moves to form new political entities that seek to impose themselves within the post -war arrangements, in light of security and economic complications that have been ravaged by Yemen for years.
