A deep international concern about the flames of the American-Houthi escalation in Yemen

The Secretary -General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, expressed his deep concern about the air strikes carried out by the United States of America on the port of Ras Issa and its surroundings in Yemen, during the period from 17 to 18 April, which resulted, according to reports, the fall of dozens of civilian victims, including five humanitarian workers.
A statement issued by a spokesman for the Secretary -General, Stephen Dujarric, confirmed that humanitarian aid was urgently mobilized to support health facilities near the attack site, at a time when the Secretary -General expressed his concern about the serious damage to the port infrastructure, in addition to possible reports of oil leakage in the Red Sea.
In a related context, Guterres expressed his deep concern about the continued missile attacks and the attacks by the Houthi group against Israel and in the Red Sea, calling for the immediate stopping of these attacks, and full commitment to Security Council Resolution 2768 (2025), which condemns the targeting of commercial ships and shipping carriers.
The Secretary -General stressed the need to respect international law, including international humanitarian law, and to protect civilians and civil facilities at all times, again inviting him to exercise the utmost restraint to avoid further escalation in the region.
Guterres also repeated his demand for the immediate and unconditional release of all United Nations employees and humanitarian workers who were arbitrary by the Houthi group.
