The United Nations comments on hitting Sana'a

Hans Grendberg, the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, expressed his deep concern about the air strike that Ansar Allah carried out at Ben Gurion Airport in Israel, and the subsequent Israeli strikes on Sanaa airport and the Hodeidah port in Yemen. This escalation is a dangerous step in a fragile and volatile regional context.
In a statement, Grendberg renewed his call to all parties concerned to show the utmost restraint, and to avoid any escalatory work that may exacerbate the suffering of civilians.
He stressed the need for all actors to adhere to their obligations under international law to protect civilians and civil infrastructure.
The UN envoy also indicated that the return to the dialogue remains the only sustainable way to ensure the permanent safety and security of Yemen and the entire region.
