Health warns of a catastrophic situation of cholera in Aden

While the Yemeni health authorities recorded 3.4 thousand infections of sheaths in Taiz Governorate, the Public Health Office in the city of Aden, which the government is taking a temporary capital of the country, confirmed that the epidemiological situation of cholera in it is getting worse and became disastrous, as cases of injury increased after calm that lasted for two months.
In an urgent message sent by Ahmed Al -Bishi, Director of Health in Aden, to the Ministry of Health, in which he stressed that the withdrawal of organizations supporting the cholera insulation center has exacerbated the current situation, and that since the withdrawal of the International Immigration Organization three months ago, the center's crew is still working voluntarily but at a minimum.
According to the Yemeni official, since the beginning of the current month of May, the cases suspected of cholera increased significantly, and the World Health Organization intervened to support the crew, but the support was very limited, as it was limited to 3 doctors and 9 nurses, and that this support compared to the status of cases made the staff unable to perform his work with effectiveness, due to the large number of cases that reached 40 cases per day, supervised by one and three doctor Nurse.
According to the speech of the Health and Population Office in Aden, this situation led to the deterioration of the health status of the cases in the insulation center, and the inability of the medical team to follow it up first, while the cholera patient needs continuous follow -up.
He explained that as a result of this situation, many cases suffer from complications from the disease, such as kidney failure, and deaths were recorded in just two days. He warned that the situation is a candidate for more if the situation is not intervened and avoided.
An appeal to intervene
The Health Office in Aden confirmed that the Al -Awasa Center at Al -Sadaqa Hospital is a reference center, not only for cases of injury among the residents of Aden, but also for incoming cases from the neighboring governorates.
The office appealed to the Ministry of Health the speed of intervention to avoid the situation before the disaster by supporting the cholera treatment center with adequate medical staff, medicines and medical supplies urgently.

According to specialists, the city of Aden faces a healthy and environmental catastrophe over the continuation of the sewage rash in the streets and homes, which is the main cause of the spread of epidemics. Residents stated that some streets were closed by sewage.

The local health authorities saw this as evidence of the outbreak of the epidemic "and its aggravation during the recent period. It stated that the number of measles injuries has increased to 988 cases, including 5 deaths related to the disease.
