Cholera destroys Yemen ... an urgent distress call from the Ministry of Planning

The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in the Republic of Yemen has launched an urgent distress appeal to all regional and international partners, from friendly countries, financial institutions, and international and humanitarian organizations, to support efforts to confront the widespread spread of diets, led by the cholera epidemic, which has been witnessing a disturbing escalation since the beginning of May in the capital, Aden and a number of neighboring governorates.
The ministry said in an official statement that the emergency health situation constitutes a direct threat to the lives of thousands of civilians, especially children, women and the elderly, in light of the recording of hundreds of injuries per day, the emergence of serious complications and increasing deaths as a result of poor medical capabilities and severe financing lack.
And the Ministry called for an urgent move to support the Ministry of Public Health, Population and local authorities, by providing medical support for cholera and diet treatment centers, including incentives for health cadres, medicines and intravenous solutions, prevention requirements, in addition to supporting spray campaigns and combating diseases, improving water and sanitation services, and promoting community awareness programs to prevent infection.
The Ministry of Planning affirmed its willingness to provide all possible facilities to ensure the speed of movement and coordinate efforts between the concerned authorities, noting that the immediate response to this humanitarian call represents a collective responsibility to save lives and reduce the spread of a healthy health disaster.
