Various tricks used by the Houthi militias to attract young people in Yemen, the latest of which was the invention of the name “temporary recruitment.”
The Houthi militia is seeking to attract hundreds of fighters to its ranks, in an attempt to exploit the truce period and the state of neither peace nor war that dominates the Yemeni scene, taking advantage of the difficult economic conditions in the areas under its control and the needs of poor families.
The militias place young people in temporary camps in exchange for symbolic sums of money.
Temporary recruitment
Local and media sources said that the Houthi militias summoned hundreds of young men from Hajjah and Hodeidah governorates to join so-called “temporary conscription,” which are camps they created in order to deceive young people and send them to their fronts.
According to the sources, the Houthi militias transferred these young men to special camps in Sanaa, Amran, and other areas, and many of them lost contact with their families for about three weeks.
The sources explained that a number of young men who were recently summoned had been summoned on previous temporary missions, where they then underwent training and demonstration exercises and participated in military parades by the Houthi militias in different governorates.
Military parade
In this context, security sources in Sanaa revealed to Al-Ain News that the Houthi militias are preparing to hold a large military parade in Al-Sabeen Square in the kidnapped capital on the morning of the “Day of the Prophet’s Birthday” event.
According to the sources, the Houthi militia obligated its members participating in the military parade to participate in the religious event it seeks to hold, along with the tribesmen who will come to participate in it.
The sources explained that the Houthi militias feared the lack of popular participation and therefore resorted to paying their fighters to cover the deficit and participate in the event scheduled to be held in the coming days.
The sources reported that the Houthi militia mobilized all its members to impose an unprecedented security influence to secure events in Sanaa. They also forced schools and institutions under their control to participate by force and be decorated in green.
The leader of the Houthi militia is scheduled to give a television speech at the event on the Prophet’s Birthday, to determine a position on the popular tension witnessed in the militia areas, as well as to repeat his threat to ignite war again, according to the same sources.
The Houthi militias play on emotions and religion as a principle for the individual’s relationship with society and the state, and they exploit the commemoration of religious occasions such as the “Prophet’s Birthday” in an attempt to devote loyalty to the sectarian project.
