Today, Sunday, the Yemeni House of Representatives held its first session via Zoom, headed by the Speaker of the House, Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani.
The official website of Parliament said that the session was a consultative meeting devoted to identifying developments in the current situation.
The website added that the session witnessed the discussion of many issues, including the economic and living situation in Yemen, and the efforts made to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
This is the first time that the Yemeni House of Representatives has held its session online.
The last session of the Yemeni House of Representatives was held in Aden, following the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council, several months ago.
The Yemeni House of Representatives held its session via Zoom in an unprecedented step, reflecting the challenges facing Yemen in light of the war that has been ongoing for more than seven years.
This session comes at a time when the Yemeni House of Representatives seeks to play a more effective role in the Yemeni political scene, and this comes after members of the Islah Party in the Council protested against the government concluding a partnership agreement with an Emirati company to establish a telecommunications company far from the control of the Houthi militia. The Brotherhood's influence diminished and they tried to shuffle the cards under the banner of national sovereignty.
