The General Administration of Foreign Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council held, today, Sunday, in the capital, Aden, a discussion workshop entitled “Bab al-Mandab Strait, the borders of southern sovereignty... historical, political, legal and military facts,” in the presence of a number of leaders and cadres of the Southern Transitional Council.
At the opening of the workshop, the head of the General Department of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Saleh Mohsen Al-Hajj, welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of holding the discussion workshop in light of the challenges and direct threats the region is witnessing from the terrorist Houthi militia.
The workshop, which was moderated by Rasha Farid, a member of the Political Department for Foreign Affairs, addressed a number of important topics related to the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the most important of which are:
* Its historical role in regional and international conflicts
* International competition in the region
* The legal status of the Bab al-Mandab Strait
* Its strategic importance
At its conclusion, the workshop concluded with a number of outputs and recommendations related to strengthening southern security, including:
* The necessity of strengthening southern military and security capabilities to secure the Bab al-Mandab Strait
* Working to build regional and international alliances to protect southern sovereignty
* Strengthening international cooperation to prevent any potential threats to the Bab al-Mandab Strait
This workshop comes within the framework of the efforts of the Southern Transitional Council to enhance awareness of the importance of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and to protect southern sovereignty over this vital waterway.
