The head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, called for more European pressure on the Houthis in order to submit to the popular and international will, and turn to the peace option.
This came during his meeting, on Tuesday, in Aden, with the head of the European Union delegation to Yemen, Gabriel Viñales, and the ambassadors of France, Germany, the Netherlands and Finland.
In the meeting, Al-Alimi presented the European ambassadors with the developments of the situation on the national scene, and the regional and international efforts to resume the political process and build on it to achieve security and stability in the country.
The European Union ambassadors were also briefed on the challenges and risks facing the security and stability of the region, with the increasing threats from the Houthis and cross-border terrorist organizations.
He praised the positions of the European Union countries alongside the Yemeni people, their political leadership and their aspirations to restore state institutions and end the coup.
For their part, the European Union ambassadors affirmed their countries' continued full support for the Presidential Command Council, and the strengthening of government reform efforts in the liberated governorates at all levels.
The European ambassadors expressed their countries' appreciation for the positive response shown by the Presidential Council and the government to the efforts aimed at reviving the peace process.
