British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said today, Saturday, December 16, in a statement, that a British destroyer shot down a suspected offensive drone in the Red Sea, amid increasing maritime tensions in the region.
Shapps said in a statement published on the X website: Overnight, HMS Diamond shot down a suspected attack drone that was targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea. A Sea Viper missile was launched and successfully destroyed the target.”
The United Kingdom announced last month that it would send its most advanced naval ships to the Gulf to strengthen its presence in the region.
