After the escalation of militia attacks in the Red Sea...
Will Washington reclassify Houthi as a terrorist?

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby revealed that Washington is considering reclassifying the Houthis as a terrorist organization. He said in a statement today (Wednesday): The United States, along with partners and allies, are working to protect commercial ships and confront Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.
Kirby added to reporters, “The Houthi attacks must stop and are unacceptable,” pointing out that many countries are ready to participate and work is underway, and we are studying reclassifying the Houthis as a terrorist organization, but the decision has not been taken yet.
He pointed out that the Houthis are focusing more on targeting commercial ships. We have not yet seen any attack on military ships. When military leaders see the movement of missiles and marches, they take the appropriate decision to eliminate any potential danger. He said that there are 14 drones, and we do not know the targets they want to attack, and it is likely that they want to attack new commercial ships in the Red Sea.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stressed yesterday (Tuesday) that the new naval coalition will organize joint patrols in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. He pointed out that the coalition will work together to protect the high seas and enhance regional security and prosperity, considering that the reckless Houthi attacks on ships are an international problem and require an international response to secure trade in the waterway.
