The White House welcomed the visit of the first Houthi delegation to the Saudi capital since the start of the war in Yemen, as part of the ongoing movement to put an end to it and begin a comprehensive political process.
The US President's National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, confirmed in a statement on Friday, Washington's diplomatic support for the current peace efforts in coordination with the Yemeni parties and the United Nations.
Sullivan called on the parties to the conflict in Yemen to put an end to the war, praising Saudi Arabia’s leadership of the current initiative to invite the Houthi delegation to complete the Yemeni peace talks.
The American official thanked the leadership of the Sultanate of Oman for its important role in the Yemeni peace talks.
On Thursday evening, a Houthi delegation left Sanaa, which is under the control of the militia, heading with an Omani delegation to Riyadh, to meet with Saudi officials to end the Yemeni crisis.
Saudi Arabia acknowledged extending an invitation to the Houthis to visit the Kingdom and complete discussions on reaching a Yemeni political solution, according to a statement by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
