The writer and political analyst Ahmed Harmal said that what was announced by the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, does not live up to the road map, as it is measures to stop the war, or more precisely, the implementation of the requirements of the Houthi militias.

Harmal, in a press statement distributed to the media, called for changing the description of the understandings from a road map to confidence-building measures and stopping the war, and leaving the road map for the Yemeni parties to reach through dialogue to agree on through the comprehensiveness and fairness of the issues presented at the table of serious and equal dialogue.

Harmal added that the desired peace is a just peace that achieves security and stability and restores rights to its owners.

Harmal continued that the desired peace must be a peace in which there is neither a victor nor a vanquished. A peace that does not sanctify unity and does not blaspheme separation. A peace in which there is no North of origin and a South of branches. A peace that does not impose political choices by force. A peace that respects the sacrifices of the people and honors them. The lives and blood of the martyrs and the wounded, and it preserves the blood of the living, and fulfills the hopes and aspirations of the people. A peace that does not reproduce the conditions that prevailed before the 2015 war, and does not go beyond the reality created by the war. A peace that does not remove crises and does not perpetuate the culture of wars. A peace that ends institutions whose mandate has expired and does not repeat them. The policy of bullying by numerical majority.
