The New York Times reported on Monday that US President Joe Biden is facing increasing pressure to destroy Houthi weapons bases in Yemen, a day after a direct clash between the Houthis and US helicopters in the Red Sea.
According to the report, US defense officials have prepared plans to strike missile and drone bases in Yemen, but the Biden administration is reluctant to use them.
The report says senior administration officials are concerned that carrying out the strikes could inadvertently benefit Iran, while also threatening a sensitive truce between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
