The US special envoy to Yemen, Timony Lenderking, held the Houthi group responsible for escalating the conflict in Yemen through its continued attacks in the Red Sea, considering that this hinders the path of peace.

In statements to Al Jazeera, Lenderking announced an upcoming tour he will take with the US Secretary of State to the region with the aim of reducing the escalation in the Red Sea. He stressed that Houthi militia attacks on ships constitute a threat to international navigation.

Regarding the possible moves of the United States against the Houthis, the American envoy confirmed that there is concern about the possibility of the militia targeting American ships, stressing that there will be no tolerance in dealing with such attacks.

Lenderking indicated that the Houthis have a choice between being part of the peace process or being enemies of several countries affected by their attacks in the Red Sea.
