The Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Ahmed Ahmed Ghaleb, met today, Sunday, January 14, 2024 AD, at the World Bank headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with Mr. Steven Gompert, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Egypt, Yemen, and Djibouti.

The assistance provided by the World Bank in the field of developing the payments system and the work of the infrastructure for digitizing payments in the Republic of Yemen was discussed. The meeting also touched on the evaluation carried out by the World Bank of the Central Bank of Yemen and the reforms that were made to address the deficiencies. The World Bank expressed its readiness to provide all technical support to build the capabilities of the Central Bank of Yemen to enable it to carry out the tasks assigned to it.
