Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with UN Under-Secretary-General Vladimir Voronkov, on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting touched on developments in the Yemeni situation, and the repercussions of the Houthi militia war at all levels.
The Chairman of the Presidential Command Council placed the UN official in the picture of the increasing terrorist threats fueled by the Houthi militias by serving with Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
Alimi pointed to the international support required to rebuild state institutions, law enforcement agencies, and anti-terrorism and organized crime authorities, and enhance their capabilities in deterring security threats in coordination with regional allies and international partners.
Al-Alimi presented the facts of explicit service between the Houthi militias and terrorist organizations, including Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which is now run by a regional chamber based in Iran.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations, Abdullah Al-Saadi, and the Ambassador of Yemen to the United States, Muhammad Al-Hadrami.
