The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Soqatri, issued Ministerial Resolution No. (2) for the year 2024 AD regarding stopping the export of onion crops outside the territory of the Republic of Yemen in order to meet the needs of the local market.
The text of the decision, after the preamble and the legal backgrounds on which it was based, is as follows: :
Article (1): The export of the onion crop outside the territory of the Republic of Yemen from all land and sea ports will be stopped until its marketing is regulated locally and abroad.
Article (2): All exporters of onion crops must act quickly and distribute the quantities and shipments available for export at land and sea ports within a maximum period of only one week from the date.
Article (3): The competent and relevant authorities must work to find a mechanism
Suitable for organizing the marketing of the onion crop locally to ensure its availability in the local markets at appropriate prices and determining the possible quantities for export in order to preserve the product and achieve a balance between the quantities required for the local market and the surplus quantities for export to prevent accumulation of the crop in the event of an abundance expected to occur in the month of March.
Article (4): Internal oversight bodies must strengthen joint oversight with the competent authorities in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Customs Authority, the Chamber of Commerce, and local authorities to follow up on the implementation mechanism of this decision to address the gap in the local markets.
Article (5): The implementation of this decision is subject to daily and continuous evaluation and study, both positively and negatively, and it may not be canceled or amended except by a decision of the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries.
Article (6): Anyone who violates the provisions of this decision shall be punished with the penalties stipulated in the applicable legislation.
Article (7): This decision will be effective from 1/22/2024 until further notice.
Article (8): This decision shall be communicated to whomever must implement it and announced in various media.
