Last year, the liberated governorate police recorded 148 cases of suicide from different age groups, in addition to 23 cases of attempted suicide.
According to the annual statistics issued by the liberated governorates’ police regarding suicide incidents recorded during the past year 2023 AD, these incidents were distributed across the governorate according to the following: Taiz Governorate 44 suicide cases, Ma’rib Governorate 25 suicide cases, the temporary capital Aden 24 cases, and Shabwa Governorate 15 cases 10 cases in Hadramaut, Al-Wadi and the Desert, 9 cases in Abyan Governorate, 8 cases of suicide in Hadramaut Al-Sahel Governorate, 6 cases in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, in addition to 5 cases in Al-Dhalea Governorate, and 2 in Al-Mahra.
The incidents of attempted suicide were distributed as follows: 7 cases in the capital Aden, 6 cases in Taiz Governorate, 3 cases in Ma’rib Governorate, 2 in Al-Mahra Governorate, and 2 suicides in Al-Dhale’ Governorate, in addition to one case in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, one case in Shabwa Governorate, and another in Hadhramout Al-Sahel Governorate. .
According to the annual report on non-criminal incidents issued by the security and police sector at the Ministry of Interior, diseases and psychological disabilities were the cause of a number of these cases, while weak religious and moral morals were the cause of most of the suicide cases recorded last year, with family disputes and poor training. Personality and low level of awareness and awareness of the seriousness of the crime committed by resorting to these methods of escaping from confronting the symptoms, issues, problems and burdens of life.
