Yemeni military sources announced, on Saturday evening, that American and British forces shot down a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis on international shipping lines in the Gulf of Aden.
The military source said that the Houthi missile was launched from the Jabal Habashi area in Taiz Governorate, and was intercepted by American and British warships in the skies of Ras Al-Ara in Lahj Governorate.
The source added that the Houthi missile exploded in the air, and did not cause any damage.
This incident comes as the Houthis continue to escalate their military campaigns and attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, threatening international navigation and the stability of the region.
The American and British forces launched a series of air strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, on January 12, in response to the group’s attacks on commercial ships.
Since then, the Houthis have intensified their attacks on commercial ships, and succeeded in targeting a British commercial ship in the Gulf of Aden, causing it to catch fire.
