The Gulf Cooperation Council is still stuck in the year 2011 regarding the situation in Yemen... Today it repeated the same vocabulary that has become outdated by developments, crushed by the chains of war tanks, and outdated by time for more than a decade, and the Council repeats the same monotonous names for the solution according to what is known as the three references:
- The Gulf initiative, which was woven by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the wake of the Arab Spring revolution in Yemen to save the Saleh regime from the fall in 2011 AD, which centered on sharing power at the time between the crumbling Saleh regime and the opposition parties (the Joint Meeting Parties) without the initiative mentioning the southern issue.
p>- The Dialogue Conference (Sanaa Dialogue 2013 AD), from which the South was completely excluded. Even the component of the Southern People’s Conference that participated did not care about it and its project submitted for the dialogue. No one cared about it and the papers of its project were torn in the Neighborhood Hall. After that, he opted for withdrawal and did not necessarily sign those outcomes, including them. The regionalization scheme.
- Security Council Resolution 2216, which focused primarily on the situation in Sana’a and the necessity of the Houthis handing over their weapons and surrendering to what the resolution called legitimate, a resolution that became just a mirage and did not even mention the southern issue.
Is it reasonable for the Gulf Arabs, through their councils and governments, to continue insisting on draft solutions whose implementation has become impossible and a form of political bullying and condescending arrogance that is empowered by the scepter of money and buying off the receivables of great and small powers?
And even if those so-called references were still valid for use throughout that period and resisted conditions of humidity, wind, salinity and echo, why should the southerners submit to them when they ignored their issue and were formulated by the parties that were the cause of the south’s tragedy and who appointed themselves the opponent and the arbiter?
Is it reasonable that after everything that happened since 2011 AD through the 2015 war of destruction, sacrifices, killing, and starvation, and after a new political map was formed that was different from what was before, he would impose on the southerners unjust solutions that were tailored to the needs of his opponents, unaware of the time of abuse, occupation, and oppression?
As a reminder: The Gulf Cooperation Council, which sponsored the Riyadh consultations nearly two years ago and overthrew President Hadi, deceptively claimed at the time that the southern issue would be present in the dialogue rounds with the Houthis during the ceasefire dialogues and that it would be placed within an independent political framework. This has never happened, and the coalition has ignored and continues to involve the southern party, including the Southern Transitional Council, of course!!
