As part of the Yemeni government’s efforts to rationalize public expenditures and enhance transparency and accountability in the use of public money, the Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, today issued a circular regarding rationalization of expenditures on foreign contributions.
The most important items of the circular:
- Representing our country in foreign events:
- Assigning our diplomatic missions to represent our country in various external events, as part of efforts to enhance Yemen’s role on the international scene and achieve the best results at the lowest cost.
- Providing the relevant authorities with the procedures and results of participation, to ensure maximum benefit from external participation and achieving the desired goals.
- The participation of fellow ministers in Arab ministerial council meetings, and whatever is at their level, is limited to necessary cases that require their personal presence to achieve the interests of the nation.
- Obtaining prior approval before ministers participate in any external event, to ensure rationalization of expenditures and setting priorities.
- Limit the duration of the travel allowance to a maximum of five days, in order to ensure rationalization of spending and to achieve the maximum benefit from foreign participation.
- Limiting the number of participants in external events to a maximum of two people, in order to ensure rationalization of expenses and achieving work efficiency.
- Specifying travel tickets for economy class seats for all job levels, as part of the government’s efforts to rationalize public expenditures and promote the principle of equality.
- Obtaining the Prime Minister’s approval before officials from the general manager level and above participate in external events, in order to ensure rationalization of expenses and achieving the best results.
