The UKMTO has received a report of a drone attack targeting a commercial ship off the coast of Djibouti in the Red Sea today.
According to the authority, the ship’s captain reported that a drone hit the accommodation structure, causing superficial damage. It was reported that the crew was fine and that the ship was heading to its next port of call.
Some news reports indicate that the incident may have resulted from an attack by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.
The Houthi militia announced today that it carried out 4 operations against four American and British ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The militia said in a statement that it also shot down an American drone over the city of Hodeidah.
