The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority (UKMTO) announced that a missile (believed to be Houthi) exploded near a ship in the Red Sea, west of the city of Hodeidah, yesterday evening, Tuesday.
The authority said in a statement at dawn today, Wednesday, that it received a report at 19:15 yesterday evening, indicating that an accident had occurred 60 nautical miles west of the city of Hodeidah.
It added that the ship's captain reported that he saw a missile explode 3-5 nautical miles from the bow of the ship
She indicated that the ship and its crew were not injured and it continued its journey to the next port.
Since last November, the Iranian-backed Houthi militia has been launching attacks with drones and missiles on cargo ships while sailing in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab off the coast of Yemen as part of Iran’s plan to militarize the Red Sea.
