Presidential Leadership Council member Tariq Saleh said: The peace understandings that were achieved recently were frozen as a result of developments in the situation in the Red Sea resulting from the Houthi militia’s attacks on ships.
Tariq Saleh pointed out, in an interview with the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), that what is happening in the Red Sea currently is the result of the international community standing in the way of the liberation of Hodeidah, and the making of the Stockholm Agreement, the price of which is paid today by Yemen and the world, and it is the agreement that made the militia Al-Houthi has turned Bab al-Mandab into a war field with its missile and drone bombardment for an Iranian agenda.
In response to a question about whether the government participates in the Guardian of Prosperity coalition, Tariq Saleh confirmed that Yemen is not a party to this coalition, adding: “We are present on our islands and territorial waters, and we secure them and are able to protect them.”
He explained that what is happening in the Red Sea is an Iranian plan that has no connection to the Israeli aggression against Gaza, and that “the quantity of missiles used in the attack on commercial ships proves that this scenario was prepared by the Revolutionary Guard, and preparations were made in advance to implement this plan.”
He pointed out that Yemenis are committed - by nature - to belonging to the Palestinian cause, which the Houthi militia and Iran’s tools in the region use as pegs to implement Iran’s agenda, which “wants to hijack the Palestinian cause from the Arabs.”
He stressed that the primary purpose of Iran’s establishment of the Houthi entity is not only to destroy Yemen; But also controlling Bab al-Mandab... indicating that the one who runs the Houthi militia’s operations rooms is the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Regarding the situation in the Red Sea, Tariq Saleh pointed out that this crisis will not end with the end of the war in Gaza. Because it was planned independently and in advance by Iran, highlighting the great danger posed by the Rubymar ship, which is on the verge of sinking and polluting the marine environment.
He said; The ideal solution to what is happening in the Red Sea is to support the government to impose its control over the entire Yemeni territory, especially since the international community has become clearly aware of the threat of the Houthi militia after it directly affected its interests.
With regard to the peace negotiations, he explained that the negotiations conducted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the Houthi militia resulted in understandings for a three-stage road map that was presented to the Presidential Leadership Council, and the leadership council’s proposals were taken into account in this regard.
As for the arrangements with the local authority and the national forces in Taiz, Tariq Saleh confirmed the existence of security and military coordination with the local authority, which administers the liberated areas of the governorate on the western coast.
He praised the positions of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE in supporting Yemen in all circumstances, reviewing the security improvement in the liberated areas and the burdens facing the government due to the cessation of oil exports
