The British Embassy in Yemen said that, since last November, the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia has carried out more than 60 attacks against commercial ships belonging to more than 40 countries.
The embassy indicated, in a statement published on the “X” platform, Thursday, that the Houthi militia claims that it is targeting ships related to Israel, and claims that international shipping is safe in the Red Sea, but it is randomly targeting ships passing off the Yemeni coast. .
The embassy confirmed that these repeated and continuous attacks put the lives of innocent sailors in danger and harm the livelihood of the Yemeni people, calling on the Houthi militia to stop its illegal and unjustified attacks.
The British statement, which provided a microcosm of the global impact of the Houthi attacks on commercial ships, stated: “Since the start of the illegal Houthi attacks on international ships in the Red Sea, the Houthis have repeatedly announced that they only target ships linked to Israel. The Houthis have so far attacked 56 A ship belonging to 40 countries, and many of the targeted ships carry oil.”
The statement added: Oil leakage into the sea increases the possibility of causing catastrophic environmental damage that affects the livelihoods of Yemenis.
