The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Kenyan government, Muammar Al-Eryani, strongly condemned the terrorist attack carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on the ship (M/V True Confidence) in the Gulf of Aden, which led to the killing of 3 of its sailors.
On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the Houthi militias targeted the ship (M/V True Confidence), which is owned by Liberia and flies the Barbados flag. The ship had a multinational crew on board, including 15 Filipinos, four Vietnamese, two Sri Lankans, an Indian and a Nepalese. The attack killed 3 crew members and injured 4 others, in addition to causing severe damage to the ship.
Al-Eryani considered this attack an unprecedented escalation in the pace of terrorist attacks launched by the Houthi militias since last November. He stressed that the attack reveals the nature of the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization that does not care about international laws and conventions. He pointed out that this dangerous escalation confirms the failure of the international community to deal with serious threats to maritime navigation.
Al-Eryani called on the international community to take a coordinated response to confront the activities of the Houthi militia that threaten regional and international security and peace. He called for classifying the Houthi militia as a “terrorist organization” and drying up its financial, political and media sources. He called for real support for the Presidential Command Council and the government in the political, economic and military aspects to restore the state and impose its control over the entire Yemeni territory.
