Two explosion incidents occurred on a ship 50 miles southeast of the Yemeni city of Aden, according to the British maritime security agency Ambrey.
British Maritime Trade added that there were no injuries to the ship's crew.
No party has claimed responsibility for the incident so far, while it comes in the context of ongoing attacks in the Red Sea region and the Gulf of Aden.
Since November 19, the Houthis have been carrying out attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea that they suspect are linked to the occupying Beijing or heading to their ports, in response to the aggression against Gaza.
The British and American forces responded with strikes on Houthi sites.
