The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badib, launched, during a meeting held via video communication technology, today, the fourth evaluation round of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation - Aden, with broad governmental and international participation.
The meeting included the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Planning and National Development and Co-Chair of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation Bugat Widyatmukwu, Deputy Minister of Planning Dr. Nizar Basahib, Executive Director of the Executive Authority to Accelerate the Absorption of Donor Pledges and Support the Implementation of Reform Policies Dr. Afrah Alzoba, and a number of communication officials. In the House of Representatives, the relevant ministries, donors, supporters, international organizations and civil society.
The event, which is an international initiative launched in 2011, aims to enhance the effectiveness of development aid globally. It includes more than 160 countries and international organizations from the public and private sectors, civil society and the Federation of Trade Unions. It also focuses on the principles of aid effectiveness such as local ownership, transparency and accountability, and conducts periodic evaluation rounds. To measure progress and identify challenges to the effectiveness of aid, it has contributed to increasing the proportion of aid directed to national priorities of recipient countries, and encourages coordination between governments and donors to maximize development impact.
The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Badhib, stressed that Yemen attaches great importance to this partnership as a unique mechanism for enhancing the effectiveness of development aid and achieving sustainable development goals. He indicated that the current evaluation round will focus on evaluating the progress achieved and identifying challenges to the effectiveness of aid.
