US Central Command announced that the Iran-backed Houthi group launched two drones from the areas they control in Yemen towards the Red Sea. The attack occurred between 7:50 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Sanaa time.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that it succeeded in engaging and destroying a drone, while the other plane was presumed to have crashed in the Red Sea. There were no reports of damage or injuries to nearby ships.
She added: Later, between 9 pm and 10:30 pm Sana’a time, US Central Command destroyed five unmanned surface ships and another drone in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. This action was taken in self-defense, as these weapons were considered an imminent threat to commercial and US Navy vessels in the area.
She indicated: These measures aim to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer for American naval and commercial ships.
The Indian Navy announced the surrender of pirates who boarded a ship off Somalia and was able to free the crew and arrest 35 pirates.
