Coinciding with the official announcement of the opening and operation of Mokha Airport, false and misleading information spread to public opinion, stating that Mokha Airport had acquired the code for Mukayras Airport according to the International Civil Aviation Organization classification since its establishment in the 1960s.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology confirms and clarifies to the public opinion that the code for Makeras Airport is OYMS, while the code for Mokha Airport is OYMK.

The Civil Aviation Authority also confirms that the false information published on social media platforms is taken from sites unrelated to aviation and is not taken from the documents and guides of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which sets specific codes for each airport in each country.

The Commission calls on all media professionals, news websites, and activists on social media to be accurate and obtain information from its own sources in the Commission before publishing and misleading public opinion
