The International Organization for Migration reported that 16 people were killed, and 28 others were missing, after a boat carrying 77 migrants capsized off the coast of Djibouti, in the second such incident in two weeks.
The organization said, in a post on the “X” platform, that among the boat’s passengers were children, and that its office in Djibouti was assisting in rescue efforts.
Two weeks ago, at least 38 people, including children, died when another ship sank off the coast of Djibouti.
Noting that at least 6 people among them are still missing, and she expects them to have died after the tragic ship crash.

On the other hand, the Tunisian National Guard confirmed that the Coast Guard recovered the bodies of 19 migrants off the coast of Sfax, in the latest drowning disaster involving migrants who were sailing towards the Italian coast.
This brings the number of deaths in drowning accidents off the coast of Tunisia to about 200 migrants in the first four months of this year.
