The leader of the Yemeni Southern Transitional Council, Mansour Saleh, expressed his regret at what he described as “the attempts of some parties to evade their obligations and devote their efforts to repositioning themselves in the south, to achieve political gains at the expense of the cause of the southern people.”
Saleh said, in his speech to the Russian “Sputnik” agency, on Tuesday: “These people have a mistaken belief in the possibility of compensating military losses with political gains through which the southern position can be weakened and the cards of the worn-out Yemeni forces in the south can be rearranged.”
He added: “The southern partnership in the Yemeni state institutions is temporary and aims to manage the stage before reaching a just solution to the issue of the people of the south and unify the efforts of the forces opposed to the Houthi militia (Ansar Allah) to resolve the battle militarily, or reach peace through a comprehensive political process under international sponsorship.” ".
Saleh continued: “In return, these institutions improve economic and living conditions and provide services in the southern governorates and the rest of the liberated Yemeni governorates.”
Saleh noted, saying: “There is an insistence on making appointments exclusively, and in an accelerated manner, in an unacceptable departure from the consensus stipulated in the statement of the transfer of power, from which the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council emerged, on April 7, 2022.”
He added, saying: “Deception in dealing with the southern partner does not serve the state of consensus, which should be the goal of all parties, and it will also hinder efforts to confront the Houthi militias (Ansar Allah).”
Saleh pointed out that “there are clear goals and objectives in the 2019 Riyadh Agreement and the 2022 Gulf Cooperation Council consultations, which resulted in the formation of a parity government and the Presidential Leadership Council, and everyone must adhere to them, and stay away from the chaotic practices that were established by previous governments, which adopted methods.” The war of services and wasting public money in buying loyalties and financing media campaigns directed against the South and its cause, while forgetting the main opponent (the Houthi militia) “Ansar Allah” and its Iranian project that targets everyone.
The southern leader explained that “the main objectives of the current southern partnership with the Yemeni forces are to achieve development and reconstruction in the south and the liberated areas in the north, in addition to waging the battle with the Houthi militia (Ansar Allah) or reaching a just peace process with it,” noting that “Any attempt to undermine southern gains and harm the southern citizen will be met with reactions that those who practice this absurdity may not tolerate.”
Saleh said, “Reproducing the forces of corruption, recycling the corrupt, and adopting a policy of empowering those close to them does not serve any national effort as much as it reminds people of a dark past, because tracing the traces of everyone who sought to harm the South and try to dismantle it previously will only reach the same result that failed.” These attempts and their perpetrators went to the dustbin of history.”
Saleh pointed out that “the practice of political blackmail and bartering or linking the services file to political files is unacceptable, because our people are not a testing ground for institutions of failure and conspiracy, and their patience, no matter how long it takes, will run out and then everyone will regret it.”
