The International Committee of the Red Cross has warned of letters sent by fraudsters requesting money on behalf of the committee in exchange for promises to provide services.
The committee said in a statement that it warns against fake emails, calls or messages claiming to be from the International Committee of the Red Cross or its employees.
The statement added that the International Committee of the Red Cross never requests any money in exchange for any of its services, stressing that it never requests any financial sum to help anyone reunite with a detained or missing family member.
The committee called on anyone who receives suspicious requests or faces any fraud attempts, to report them immediately via the ICRC’s toll-free number in Yemen 8005544, or WhatsApp 737503687.
