A member of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, described what is happening in his country as “very dangerous,” stressing that “unless there is urgent action that changes the situation in Yemen within 6 months, a disaster will occur.”
Al-Bahsani said, in an exclusive interview with “Erm News,” that his country was able to implement security in an exemplary manner, after uprooting ISIS and Al-Qaeda from Mukalla Governorate.
He added that the governorates of Hadramaut and Mukalla are safe, and there is no room to talk about the return of terrorist groups to those areas, stressing that there is a wide spread of army and security personnel in the areas that were controlled by terrorist groups.
He explained that the security services, in coordination with the coalition forces, are following up on some suspected people in several areas of Yemen.
Regarding the impact of the Houthi militia’s operations in the Red Sea on the peace process in Yemen, Al-Bahsani said that they had a negative impact on it and delayed it, hoping that negotiations would resume between all parties, led by Saudi Arabia, the European Union, the Seven Countries and others.
With regard to the deteriorating conditions in many governorates, he stressed that corruption must be fought, job opportunities must be provided for Yemeni youth, and the deterioration of the currency must be limited by following a sound monetary policy.
Al-Bahsani concluded his speech by saying that the security services must be unified within the Ministries of Defense and Interior, considering that unifying efforts and cooperation is important to confront the “enemy.”
