The US Central Command, Centcom, confirmed on Saturday that the Houthis in Yemen fired two anti-ship missiles towards the Red Sea without recording any casualties or damage.
The command said in a statement via X: “At approximately 3:50 a.m. (Sanaa time) on May 25, the Iranian-backed Houthis launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles towards the Red Sea. No casualties or damage were reported by the ships.” American, coalition, or commercial ships.”
Centcom added, "This continued malicious and reckless behavior by the Iran-backed Houthis threatens regional stability and puts the lives of sailors across the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden at risk."
Since November, the Houthis have launched missile and drone attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. They say that these attacks fall within the framework of their solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
For its part, the United States formed a multinational coalition aimed at protecting shipping in the Red Sea, and since mid-January it has carried out repeated strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen. Britain also participated in many of these strikes.
