The joint ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union, held today, Tuesday in Muscat, stressed the urgent need to improve the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
The meeting expressed its commitment to the humanitarian situation in Yemen, and called for urgent measures to address the humanitarian crisis, including expanding the scope of humanitarian aid, improving aid access to those in need, and supporting reconstruction efforts.
The European Union and Gulf Cooperation Council ministers affirmed their full support for the UN-led peace process and the mediation efforts of UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg.
The Joint Council affirmed its support for a comprehensive Yemeni political process under the auspices of the United Nations to end the conflict, on the basis of the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference, and Security Council Resolution No. 2216.
