Major General Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held an important meeting today that included a number of members of the Council’s Presidency, heads of bodies, and the Council’s ministers in the government.
The meeting focused on discussing urgent solutions to stop the rapid deterioration of the economic and service conditions in the south, and possible coordination mechanisms between the Transitional Council bodies and the relevant ministries.
Al-Zubaidi stressed that “the continuation of the status quo is no longer acceptable, and that the Transitional Council will not wait forever for the government’s neglect and inability to address crises, and the continued deterioration of living conditions, reaching an extent that exceeds the ability of our people to be patient and endure.”
He stressed that “the Transitional Council is a political entity from and to the people of the South, and it will never be far from their suffering, and it also has sufficient capacity and courage to assume its national responsibilities towards our people.”
Al-Zubaidi explained that “the Council’s participation in the Leadership Council and the government came out of a keenness to unite ranks to confront the terrorist Houthi militias, improve the lives of citizens, and provide basic services. However, the deterioration of living conditions to this level prompts the Council to reconsider all its decisions and steps.” future, in a way that serves the interests of the people of the South and their national cause.”
Al-Zubaidi instructed those present at the conclusion of the meeting to remain in permanent session, to study urgent and possible solutions in these exceptional circumstances.
This meeting comes amid increasing popular anger in the south over deteriorating living conditions and the government’s failure to address the accumulated crises. Speculation indicates that the Transitional Council may take decisive steps in the coming period, including declaring a state of emergency, withdrawing from the government, or even taking escalatory measures against the government.
Attention remains focused on the next steps of the Transitional Council, amid anticipation by all concerned parties to find out how to address this crisis that threatens the stability of the country.
