Members of the National Committee to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations, today, Saturday, discussed with the leadership of the local, security and judicial authority in Shabwa Governorate the situation of human rights in the governorate. They also discussed a number of issues that the Committee is following up on, and the necessity of protecting and preserving human rights in accordance with the applicable regulations and laws. .
In the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Abd Rabbuh Hashla, stressed the local authority’s keenness to provide the necessary facilities for the committee’s work in the governorate and to facilitate its procedures and field visits to the concerned authorities. To enable it to carry out its tasks and work, and to be fully prepared to respond to the committee’s inquiries.
In the same context, members of the National Committee, Judge Hizam Al-Marisi, Judge Jihad Abdul-Rasoul, and Judge Dr. Dhia Muhairz, carried out a field trip to the headquarters of the central prison in the governorate, the Criminal Investigation Department, and the Ataq District Police Station, and met with security officials in these facilities.
The committee also inspected the departments of the central prison and detention centers and reviewed the legal conditions and services received by (269) prisoners and detainees. They provided an explanation of their legal conditions, and also requested that their needs for food, medicine, hygiene supplies, and bedding be provided.
