On Monday, the US Department of the Treasury announced the imposition of sanctions on 10 individuals, entities and ships for their participation in the illicit transport of oil and goods belonging to the Houthis in Yemen.
The US State Department said in a statement: “The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control is sanctioning 10 individuals, entities, ships and tankers, in multiple jurisdictions, who participated in the illicit transportation of oil and other commodities, for a network of Houthi financial facilitator Saeed Al-Jamal.” ".
The US Treasury added that this measure targets maritime shipping and financial facilitators, several ship managers and owners, and a company involved in falsifying shipping documents.
The ministry noted: “The seventh round of sanctions targeting the Al-Jamal network since October 2023 reinforces the US government’s commitment to isolate and disrupt the financing of international terrorist groups such as the Houthis.”
