The Yemeni Houthi group claimed that it carried out four military operations targeting four cargo ships belonging to America, Britain and Israel in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean.
The US Army had announced earlier on Sunday evening that it had destroyed three drone boats belonging to the Yemeni Houthi group during the past twenty-four hours in the Red Sea, as part of a “self-defense clash.”
Rising tension in the Red Sea
Since last November, the Houthi group has launched more than 150 attacks on commercial ships, claiming that they were heading to Israel.
The Houthis also vowed to expand their attacks to the Mediterranean Sea as well, under the pretext of supporting the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a devastating Israeli war since the seventh of last October.
These attacks have already prompted commercial companies to switch to a longer and more expensive route around Africa.
