Yemenia Airlines resumed, on Monday, its direct flights between the city of Aden, the temporary Yemeni capital, and the Emirati city of Dubai, after a hiatus that lasted more than 9 years.
The Director General of Legal Affairs at the Yemeni Airlines Company (government), Bassam Nasser, said, “Yemeni Airlines resumed its first direct flights today (Monday) between the cities of Aden, the temporary Yemeni capital, and Dubai, the Emirates, after a hiatus that lasted for more than 9 years. Because of the war in the country.”
He added: “The first flights between Yemen and the Emirates were launched, as part of the program to restart flights between Aden and Dubai, with two flights per week.”
Last June, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemeni Airlines, Nasser Muhammad, revealed that “the company is preparing to launch flights to Doha and Dubai in the near future, and to open routes across Africa.”
Most Yemeni air transport lines stopped operating in September 2014, as a result of the Houthis taking control of the capital, Sana’a, before recently resuming some of their flights, especially to Kuwait in mid-June, according to the government “Saba” news agency.
