The US Embassy in the Omani capital, Muscat, issued a security alert to American citizens after a shooting in the nearby Wadi Al Kabir area, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
Earlier, the police in the Sultanate of Oman announced, on Tuesday, that a shooting had occurred in the Wadi Al-Kabir area, resulting in deaths and injuries.
The US embassy statement said: “American citizens must remain vigilant, monitor local news and adhere to the directives of local authorities.”
The embassy added that visa appointments scheduled for Tuesday will be canceled as a precautionary measure for safety.
The embassy said: “Visa appointments at the US Embassy were canceled today, Tuesday, due to safety precautions following the shooting in Wadi Al-Kabir. Normal operations may resume on Wednesday, July 16. All scheduled visa appointments will be rescheduled for Tuesday, July 15".
