A delegation from the Sultanate of Oman arrived today (Thursday) in Sanaa, which is under the control of the Houthi group, to meet with leaders in the group, to discuss developments in the mediation conducted by the Sultanate and ways of a political settlement in Yemen.
Mohamed Abdel Salam, spokesman for the Houthi group and head of its negotiating delegation, said that the Omani delegation arrived in Sana’a to consult with the leadership, evaluate the stage, and resume the negotiating process, foremost of which is addressing the humanitarian files.
Abdul Salam indicated on his Twitter account that he had arrived with the Omani delegation to Sana’a.
The head of the Houthi delegation, negotiator Mohammed Abdul Salam, and members of the Houthi negotiating team have been residing in the Omani capital, Muscat, for several years.
Official Houthi media reported, citing sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa (unacknowledged), that the Omani delegation carried the latest developments in the mediation conducted by Oman with the aim of stopping the war in Yemen and the possibility of extending the humanitarian truce and disbursing salaries.
She added that the Omani delegation is scheduled to meet with a number of leaders to discuss ways of political settlement.
An Omani delegation and a Saudi delegation visited the capital, Sana'a, last April, and the two delegations held discussions with leaders from the Houthi group.
