The leader of the Houthi group, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, vowed to respond to the unprecedented Israeli attack that targeted the port of Hodeidah in western Yemen, in his first appearance days after the raids that targeted Hodeidah last Saturday.
Al-Houthi said in a speech on Thursday evening that “the group’s attacks on Israel will continue and will not be deterred by Israeli air strikes near the port of Hodeidah,” noting that the Israeli bombing of Hodeidah “will not achieve deterrence to prevent operations” launched by the group.
Al-Houthi also vowed to continue military operations on shipping lines and waterways, as the United States of America leads an international coalition to protect them.
He added that “everything that happens” on the part of the Israelis “will be a greater incentive for revenge.”
In addition, US forces announced the destruction of two missiles in areas controlled by the Houthi group in northern Yemen, before launching them into international shipping lanes.
The US Central Command said in a statement issued on Thursday: “During the past 24 hours, our forces succeeded in destroying two missiles on launch pads in an area controlled by the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen.”
The statement added that this action came after it was determined that these two missiles “represent an imminent threat to the United States, coalition forces, and commercial ships in the region, protecting freedom of navigation and making international waters safer and more secure.”
Since the beginning of this July, Centcom reported that its forces succeeded in destroying 24 drones, 15 drone boats, 4 radars, 3 missile launchers, two missiles with their launchers, in addition to two surface-to-air missiles (SAM).
