Two days ago, I visited the Al-Rawda Club Stadium in Al-Qala’a, one of the four club stadiums that were approved for grassing and rehabilitation within the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, and I witnessed closely the high rate of achievement and the work done, which seems to have reached its final limits, and the dream of the people of Al-Rawdah and Al-Qal’a is approaching in a way. It is too great to see the light in the near future, God willing.
Al-Rawda Club Stadium, whose development and rehabilitation process faltered for many years and went through many stages, but many efforts did not succeed, and all hopes remained trapped in drawers and promises. The beginning was when the project was eliminated in the last moments after it was included among the training fields that had been turfed just before Gulf Championship 20, which our country hosted in 2010.
After more than a decade and a half has passed, the stadium is about to breathe a sigh of relief, and the dream is getting closer, and only some work separates it from opening, which will be completed in a period not exceeding two months, as promised by the project engineer, in which work began on November 27, 2023, after handing over the site to the contractor. The first stage was the backfilling stage to strengthen the playing field.
During my visit to the stadium, I had a conversation with the club president, the respected Captain Jamal Omar, who in turn showed me the picture and briefed me on the stages of work and some important details that accompanied the work. He confirmed to me some information, including that the project was part of the Gulf 20 projects, but in the last moments they canceled it. Port Club. If you notice the terraces and rooms below the terraces, they are works of the Gulf 20. We preserved it as much as possible.
He told me about some of the difficulties that faced the club’s management before work began on it, including the miserable condition that the stadium was in, which was at that time unfit for use and activity due to the stones that covered its floor. An effort was made to clear part of the stadium according to capabilities. We established a league. Ramadani is in a quarter of the field and the goal is to bring life back to the stadium.
Regarding some of the work required to be carried out in the stadium to make it appear in its most beautiful appearance, he pointed out that discussions are continuing with the brothers in the Reconstruction Fund and the Projects Sector in the Ministry, which is to protect the stadium by raising the fence, as well as making protection nets in the stands and parts of the stadium so that we can preserve the stadium for the longest possible period, in addition to the demand for work. Interlock the empty spaces around the stadium so that the stadium remains free of dust and stones in the empty spaces. There is a response from the brothers in the projects sector, as well as the Reconstruction Fund, to raise this matter to the responsible authorities.
Captain Jamal Omar concluded his speech by: Turfing Al-Rawda Stadium will solve before us many obstacles that burdened us in the administration, and from here I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to everyone, including the previous club administrations, who sought to complete the project and realize the dream of the people of Al-Rawdah Project, just like the rest of the clubs in the capital, Aden.
